In 2014, I Love A Clean San Diego coordinated a record-breaking 106 countywide locations, including local beaches, bays, canyons, creeks, and parks. To also tackle litter already in the ocean, ILACSD coordinated two boater cleanup sites, and assisted with an underwater cleanup of SD Bay. Countywide, 7,622 volunteers removed 208,012 LBS of litter and debris, all in just 3 hours! ILACSD partnered with Proyecto Fronteriza for a Coastal Cleanup Day event in Tijuana, where an additional 1600 volunteers removed over 11,000 pounds from our shared watershed, resulting in 9,222 volunteers joining forces for a cross border cleanup, where 219,035 LBS of debris was cleaned up!
In 2012, over 9,000 volunteers removed over 167,000 pounds of debris in one morning at various beaches, bays, canyons, and open space areas in San Diego County and across the border with our partners in Mexico. Join us once more to continue this tradition of volunteerism and stewardship for our community!
