2019 Results!

In just three hours today, more than 6,500 volunteers cleared nearly 145,000 pounds (72.5 tons) of waste and debris from streets, canyons, parks and the coastline in communities across San Diego County for the 35th annual Coastal Cleanup Day, organized by the nonprofit I Love A Clean San Diego. The day’s environmental protection effort took place at 107 sites around the region and prevented the equivalent of 5,500 garbage trucks emptying their contents into the ocean.

Registration is not yet open! A complete list of cleanup locations and site details will be posted beginning in August when online registration will be open for volunteers. Check back for updates and to sign up for the site of your choice.

DIRECTIONS:
From Hwy 8, take I-15 SOUTH to University Avenue Turn LEFT onto University Avenue (east) Turn RIGHT onto 42nd Street (south) This ends at Thorn Street, park anywhere. The sign in table is at the intersection of 42nd @ Thorn, near the guardrail.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Projects will include invasive plant removal along with litter abatement.

Reduce waste at this year's cleanup by bringing along your own bucket, work gloves, and reusable water bottle. Many of our sites strive to be "zero waste" and you can help them! Pro tip: look to salvage buckets from local sandwich shops or fast food chains!
