At the 2013 California Coastal Cleanup Day event in San Diego County, 7,714 volunteers came out to help clean up local coastal and inland communities. These dedicated volunteers removed 171,344 pounds of trash and recyclables from 186 miles of shoreline. Plus, 2,000 of our friends across the border collected 16,000 pounds in Tijuana, Tecate, Rosarito and Ensenada. Together we were nearly 10,000 volunteers in this interconnected region!

California Coastal Cleanup Day is organized locally by I Love A Clean San Diego and statewide by the California Coastal Commission and it takes place throughout California in 48 counties. California Coastal Cleanup Day is also a part of International Coastal Cleanup, which engages volunteers from close to 100 countries. This year, 648,015 participants removed 12.3 million pounds of debris from across the world.
