Coastal Cleanup 2006 Results

At this year’s California Coastal Cleanup Day event in San Diego County, 5,850 volunteers participated, exceeding our goal of engaging 5,000 volunteers, at 63 coastal and inland sites. Volunteers removed 179,411 pounds of trash and 17,585 pounds of recyclables from the waterways and beaches throughout San Diego County from Fallbrook all the way down to Tijuana.

California Coastal Cleanup Day is organized by the California Coastal Commission and takes place throughout California. In 2006, approximately 48,000 participants across 45 counties removed over 800,000 pounds of debris.
